Typically when an artist announces a new album, they’ll take to social media with a name, a release date, and other relevant information. If they’re aiming to be coy, they’ll release a teaser video, usually around a minute or so long featuring some fun visuals. What Porter Robinson did to tell us about his next album Worlds though takes the cake.
With a total run-time of 10 hours, his announcement features rolling hillsides set to a strings section that sounds like it was recorded on a potato, followed by origami animals pulled out of your worst acid-trip nightmare. It then proceeds to cycle through the origami nightmare creatures while repeating “Worlds” for the next 9 hours and 59 minutes. Basically we learned two things about Porter Robinson: He has a new album coming out called Worlds, and he’s unfathomably strange in ways we can’t fully comprehend.
WARNING: If you stare at the video for too long, there’s a solid chance you’re irrevocably hypnotized into watching all 10 hours as your sanity slowly slips away. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
