Pete Tong is a name virtually every dance music fan knows. His week BBC Radio 1 show is world-renown, making the British legend something of a tastemaker among his contemporaries. When he’s not hosting some of the greatest DJs the world has to offer though, he’s behind the decks for his residency at LiFE Nightclub in Las Vegas, the city at the center of the global club scene. Walk the strip in Vegas, and you’ll find artists like Afrojack, Avicii, and any number of mainstreamers that appeal to a wide audience with pop music. Taking it in a different direction though is Tong, as he kicks off a brand new night of music for his residency.
Along with Guy Gerber, Tong will be hosting the first ever deep house night at LiFE, featuring only the best music the underground has to offer. It runs in stark contrast to a Vegas scene that revels in more popular offerings, and in a lot of ways is the perfect yin to that yang. It kicks off tonight, with presales running at $30 for men and $20 for women (for anyone who might be in the area). Coming up, we’ll have an exclusive interview with the legend himself, talking over his inspiration for the night and his role as the godfather of dance music, so stay tuned!
