Lettuce
Jam bands and full funk bands are far from common nowadays, but legends of the genre Lettuce have steadily been gaining momentum touring with acts like Gramatik. While most funk includes some sort of vocal element, Lettuce chooses to leave that aspect out in favor of very little to no breaks in between songs during their live shows. Complete with altotone/baritone saxophone, trumpet, and an organ/key player, Lettuce is sure to add that extra flare to Pemberton. Lettuce is playing Day 3 (Saturday).
GRiZ
Taking the dance community by storm at the tender age of 21, Grant Kwiecinski (known as GRiZ) fuses together his blend of saxophone and funk comparable to the likes of Big Gigantic and Pretty Lights. We can’t wait to see what the electro-funk wizard has in store for us in a rural festival setting! Catch GRiZ on Day 2 (Friday).
Break Science
Are you a fan of Pretty Lights? Well, chances are you’ll enjoy Break Science, a duo composed of Adam Deitch and Borham Lee and signed to the Pretty Lights Music label. For over 4 years they’ve been bringing their brand of jazz-infused funk to festivals and clubs all around the world, providing a slightly different vibe than your average EDM show. Break Science will be opening up the first day of the festival (Thursday).
Big Gigantic
After witnessing their live show at WAMU for Budweiser’s Made In America tour, Big Gigantic impressed us with a funky set full of both dub and trap elements, with their trademark live saxophone and drums. Big Gigantic is another hidden gem that’s burst on to the scene out of a budding Colorado dance music scene. We have a feeling seeing these guys in a festival setting will be downright chaotic. If you’re looking for a few surprises thrown your way, look no further than Big Gigantic. Catch the duo on Day 2 (Friday).
