With the night now upon us, it was time for the heavy hitters to close out the final night of Paradiso 2016. No stranger to the PNW, Excision took the main stage to give us his first performance in the PNW since The Paradox tour. His set was filled with the classics, a few new tracks, and topped off the official debut of 16 year old Dion Timmer. What could have easily been the final performance of the night, was only just the beginning of our night.
With so much going on during the week, it easy to get wrapped up in trying to make sure you see all of the artists you want or getting the best view possible. We often forget to take a break and take in the sights and sound of the festival, so we decided it was time to sit on the lawn and take it all in. It seemed fitting that The Chainsmokers would be the group we made this decision on, as most of the crowd was full swing into party mode. The crowd was packed in tight and we really enjoyed watching the magic from a far for once. We recommend everyone take the opportunity to do this at least once at any festival they attend.
The night was winding down and we were ready to get out whatever dancing we had left in us. Having given the nickname “Bassdiso” to the weekend, it only seemed right to close it out at the Wreckage. OG Dubstep producer 12th Planet was proving why he’s not a set to miss, keeping true to his original style. 12th Planet’s set was host to so many b2b’s we lost count after seeing Excision, Datsik, Dion Timmer, and JAUZ all on stage. We had multiple moments of “is this real life” and couldn’t believe what we were witnessing.
Truly the only way we could find fitting enough to close out the weekend would be a b2b set from Dubstep dons Caspa and Rusko. The two recently joined forces to get back to their roots dating back to Fabliclive 37. The duo went track for track dropping a healthy mix of new and old that did not disappoint. Leaving us wanting more we look forward to seeing them again at Shambhala… DO NOT MISS THIS SET!
Paradiso 2016 was clearly a labor of love from the ground up that could been seen the moment we arrived. Despite a few weather delays we felt as if the weekend went off without a hitch. We’d like to give a particularly big shout out to the Conscious Crew for being out in full force. We saw you guys EVERY WHERE making sure everyone was safe, comfortable, and staying hydrated. Undoubtedly, you guys certainly helped keep injury to a minimum this year, while making sure we all had the best time possible.
We couldn’t have been happier with the way our weekend went and certainly look forward to returning to the Gorge for Paradiso 2017, and even more so for Magnifique 2016. Despite the planning and preparation, there’s always something to learn from each event we go to. Be sure to check out our write up our Lessons Learned from Paradiso 2016. We, again, applaud the folks at USC for such an amazing event and allowing us to be a part of it. For anyone who was unable to make it, we highly recommend you pick up your tickets for 2017 when they hit the box office. If there is anything can can hope for 2017 is that it’s going to be even better than this year.
Our summer has officially begun, and we’re full swing into our PNW festival season. This weekend we headed to FVDED in the Park to once again get down with our brothers and sisters up north. Shortly after we’re off to Merritt, BC for Bass Coast and then Shambhala. Summer is looking mighty fine so be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram, as well as like us on Facebook to stay up to date, and as always we’ll see you on the dance floor!
Important things happen in Pacific Northwest nightlife, and DMNW will send you alerts!
