Trance Heaven
The Northwest’s love of trance is no secret. Getting to see any of the top-notch trance artists that performed at FreakNight 2013 would make the day of most fans. But with a Friday night that featured Orjan Nilsen, Gabriel & Dresden, Tritonal, Cosmic Gate, ATB, and a DJ set from Infected Mushroom consecutively at the Midway of Mayhem stage put the evening in a category of its own. With the previously mentioned New World Punx closing out the mainstage on Friday, and Dash Berlin in the penultimate mainstage slot on Saturday, the helpings of progressive/trance tunes at FreakNight 2013 were enough to satiate the appetites of the hungriest of Northwest trance fans.

Drum and Bass? DRUM AND BASS!
While the trance fans got to camp at their stage on Friday, drum and bass fans had control of the Bass Asylum. Getting treated to Dieselboy, Delta Heavy, Koan Sound, and ending the night with Funtcase, is enough to sell any basshead. Throw in Dirtyphonics, Foreign Beggars, and a DJ set from The Prodigy’s Maxim, and you have all of the ingredients for a great time. Bass stages are usually great, but the group of artists at FreakNight 2013 is an underrated aspect of the festival’s incredible lineup.
Other FreakNight Goodies
There were other great performances from interesting acts throughout the festival. A snapshot during the rapid rise of Dillon Francis was available at the mainstage on day one. Meanwhile over at the Midway of Mayhem on day two, Baauer was still riding the post-Harlem Shake wave. Techno fans got a few treats as well, with UMEK, Claude Von Stroke, and Boys Noize scattered over the two nights.
