Holy mother of pearl! If you have been following Los Angeles-based duo Oliver lately, you’ll know that they’ve been killing it. Their newly released Fast Forward EP exemplifies their signature sound, with elements of disco, funk, and the right amount of edgy electro house that makes you get up and groove. Yesterday, the group surprised us all by releasing a monstrous remix of Big Data’s hit single Dangerous, which features vocalist Joywave. Oliver does not release new music that often, so this remix has us ecstatic at Dance Music Northwest.
Joywave’s poppy vocals blend together perfectly with Oliver’s synth work and almost leave you wishing you could time travel back to an 80’s dance floor. Oliver effortlessly flirts with the fine line between the vibes of funk and disco with banging electro house. The dreamy vocals captivate you just in time for Oliver to drop right into reverberating electro that you makes want to jam. So it’s probably best that you put away all of your valuables before you hit ‘play’. We always expect the tempo of Oliver’s songs to be much faster when they drop into the heavier parts, but that doesn’t mean we don’t feel the vibes nevertheless.
Lucky for us up here in the Pacific Northwest, Oliver will be stopping by Foundation on December 11th as a part of their Light Years Away tour.
