No longer the local secret they once were, worldwide festival favorites Odesza came home for the weekend. But instead of a nice relaxing break, the duo played three shows at Seattle’s Paramount Theater and a special No.Sleep set at Q Nightclub Saturday night. Dance Music Northwest was there in full force, with a presence at each and every appearance from the weekend.
Their Paramount set was comprised of almost exclusively Odesza tracks, with a very select few exceptions. Best described as groovy, the mood was chill, but we never stopped dancing as they dropped our favorite tracks one by one. In addition to Harrison and Clayton bouncing in-sync to the music and the occasional live drumming, they had some instrumental back-up on stage, including a horn section.
The lighting was on point and the visuals complemented the music. At a couple points we found ourselves trying to take a picture solely to catch the visuals! Honorable mention goes to the Godzilla footage during their last track of the night, and the Odesza logo blended with the Worlds logo when they dropped their remix of Porter Robinson’s Divinity. The only thing that could have made this set better would have been if it were longer. We wanted more!
Luckily for those at the Saturday show, if they were one of the extra lucky ones, there was more Odesza to be experienced at Q Nightclub in the form of a No.Sleep set. If you’ve never listened to their No.Sleep playlist on SoundCloud we highly recommend you do; it’s the perfect upbeat chill mix. A generally eclectic set that ranged from hip hop to old school jams to remixes of their own work, it constantly kept us on our toes. The club was absolutely packed but as long as you were swaying to the music, you could shimmy into a spot somewhere.
All in all, we had a killer weekend with Odesza and can’t wait for their next homecoming. We’d love to see them at a PNW festival this summer! Did you have a chance to catch Odesza this weekend at The Paramount or Q? What was your favorite moment?
