We recently received the news that No Vacancy Lounge in Portland, Oregon shut their doors permanently on February 19. As a result of an ongoing legal battle regarding conflicting lease terms, which you can read more about here, No Vacancy was “financially devastated,” and forced to shut down.
This was also devastating for us to hear, as the venue did everything right for their attendees and were selling out weekend after weekend. No Vacancy Lounge always had great energy, bringing in some of the biggest names in house music, providing music lovers, bar jumpers, or dance enthusiasts a safe place to spend their night. With an open dance floor, two options for stages and an easy going environment, it was a club like no other in Portland.
Their last four shows featured Black Eyeliner, Justin Jay, La Riots, and Prisoner of Love. Thankfully, we were able to attend Justin Jay, and he played an amazing set. Members of Thumpasaurus joined him on stage, bringing a whole new dynamic to the show. Justin Jay finished the night off by singing Happy Birthday to one of the owners, showing just how close this community is.
So thank you No Vacancy Lounge for bringing something different to Portland. Thank you for bringing a new energy to a city. Thank you for the unforgettable nights spent on the dance floor. We hope the energy continues to the next big idea.
