will.i.am released a track recently entitled Lets Go featuring Chris Brown. Lets Go sampled a large portion of Ajunabeat’s release Rebound by Mat Zo and Arty. We’ll start off by saying that illegally, will.i.am did not have permission to sample Rebound. In other words, he stole the track and made an attempt to sell it for profit. Quickly after the release dropped, Ajunabeats swarmed in on a successful attempt to make things right. Both parties released a statement and will.i.am is now one of the most hated artists by the trance family and EDM community. The crowd cheered and continued to dance the night away with Above & Beyond. We can’t say that will.i.am has learned his lesson, because he’s done this before, but we hope he doesn’t continue down this path in the future as he’s most certainly tarnished many relationships throughout the dance music community.
If it’s one thing we’ve learned about trance music is that the uplifting EDM genre is a strong community built on respect, trust and love. Everything music should be about.
