A new three part series airs this week on BBC 4, called, Can You Feel It: How Dance Music Conquered the World. BBC will explore all parts of electronic dance music, diving inside various clubs and festivals. The series will feature a number of DJ interviews, featuring Nicky Siano, Marshall Jefferson, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, Juan Atkins, Kevin Sanderson, Derrick May, Pete Tong, and David Guetta in just the first episode.
Electronic dance music is bigger than ever. There are a number of books, movies, and documentaries showing how far electronic dance music has come, what it is all about, and where they think it is headed. As the media continues to focus on the drug use and the obnoxious behavior the raves attract, any good series is welcomed. The BBC is a such a great network, we are excited to see what they come up with.
The first episode airs on BBC 4 this Friday at 10pm, it “will follow the 4/4 beat from its disco origins through remix culture to house, techno, acid house and the current EDM explosion.” Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think!
