Nero has been a dance music sensation since the release of Promises in 2011, which reached number one on the UK singles chart upon release. They followed up the single with album Welcome to Reality, then Between II Worlds.
However, in the last two years the trio’s Dan Stephens and Alana Watson stepped back from making music as Nero, and started a small side project The Night. The Night reflects an older style of dance music, focusing on a house oriented, 80’s synth pop kind of feel.
After their single Different Story, released on March 16th via Monstercat, the duo is already making a name for themselves. The song starts off with a distinctive drum beat, then flows into Alana’s vocals and a melodic synth line, making you feel like you’re going back to the roots of dance music. The song has an upbeat vibe that is reminiscent of summer. You can check out the song for yourself down below.
With their side project going on, one can only hope that more music will be releasing soon, and that there may be even a possibility of The Night going on tour in the future.
