Resonate Fridays took on a new twist last night, as we welcomed Moguai (real name André Tegeler) to Foundation Nightclub for the first time ever. When someone like the German-born house veteran comes to town, expectations tend to run a bit high. Even so, we couldn’t have prepared ourselves for how amazing of a night this could’ve been.
Even upon arriving mid set for Kyle Winters, the energy was running high, everyone had a smile on their face, and the whole room was ready for the start of the weekend. Winters took it a step back with some old school house vibes that led to an unstoppable energy throughout the set. Sean Majors soon took over the decks, playing a solid collection of popular house tracks that kept the energy alive and well until Moguai took control of the decks right after midnight.
As Moguai took to the stage smiling ear-to-ear, it was clear he was genuinely happy to be in Seattle. A crowd that had anxiously waited for him to fully take over the decks and take the night away finally got what they wanted. On top of the incredible energy Moguai carried throughout his set, he dropped an array of only the best tracks from his catalog, such as newer favorites Mammoth (featuring Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike) and his smashing original mix you might know as Champs, as well as several Fatboy Slim edits thrown in along the way.
Unquestionably the biggest surprise of the night, lasers and extra lighting filled Foundation for a one-week only setup. The added production gave more depth to the show and especially added to the incredible vibe of the club on this particular night. While we’re told it was just for this week, we hope Foundation Nightclub considers investing in some new permanent gadgets for the club.
Moguai may have been around for a long time, but that in no way makes him irrelevant. Last night he proved to us he’s still a relevant figure in the industry, and that he’s in it for the long haul. There’s nothing better than seeing someone extremely passionate about what they do, and that’s exactly what Moguai brought to Seattle for that Friday night. A performance like that makes us already eager for his return to the Pacific Northwest!
