For those of you en route to EDC Las Vegas this week, you may want to re-work your Friday night plan of action. Returning to the Discovery Stage that won him major notoriety last year, tech house phenom Modus is set to kick off the first night of EDC with some serious sound. Pulling from influences like Richie Hawtin, Umek, and Markus Schulz, Modus’ originals and remixes continuously top our list of favorites with each new release.
This time is no different, as Modus takes on one of Pryda’s biggest originals, Shadows. Updating the 90s-esque synths with forward-motion deep house sounds, Modus resurrects the original Shadows, giving it even more well-deserved honor and attention. Coincidentally enough, Modus keeps the overall sound similar to Pryda’s work, as if to shadow the original; connected at the core but with a slightly different form.

Although set times are still not out for EDC Las Vegas this weekend, keep Modus on your radar if you want to catch a rich house set. Coming off of a wild weekend at Splash House at The Saguaro Hotel in Palm Springs, Modus is more than warmed up and ready to bring festival-goers the best of tech house the world has to offer. You can listen to all of Modus’ originals and remixes on his Soundcloud, and snag all of his free downloads from his official Modus Facebook page.
*UPDATE* Modus will be playing at the Discovery Stage from 9-10pm on Friday, June 20th.
