Mija surprised us recently with an indie rock song, titled Desert Trash. The song is the lead single from her fast approaching February album. For the first time, Mija features a three piece band. We can pick out a guitarist, drummer, and Mija on vocals.
When we glanced at Mija’s history we really shouldn’t have been surprised that she’s trying something completely new.
Throughout Mija’s career she has focused on an eclectic mix of house, trap, and everything in between. Her musical choices led her to create “Fk a Genre.” Her curated shows are defined by multiple genres, and it’s quickly became apparent that it’s characteristic of her to venture into a variety of different sounds.
We saw that firsthand with her live tour in spring 2019. Mija performed Band Practice with live vocals, live midi, and a guitarist. It appears that practice is almost over as she gears up for the real deal.
Will her upcoming Spring 2020 live tour feature all acoustic? Will it hold onto some electronic elements? Find out in Portland and Seattle this April.

Now lets listen to the lead single and title track, Desert Trash. Hardcore fans of Mija will become obsessed with this one. Despite the acoustic vibe Mija was able to autograph her dark warehouse vibe. We think the production and lyrical work is top shelf. Casual fans of Mija will notice this song holds onto the high energy that you see in her DJ performances.
