While we have called for change in the music community to create a safer environment, we must also call on the HUMAN community to make OUR environment more sustainable. The UN Climate Change Conference is currently being held in Paris. Because of the recent tragedies, protests and large gatherings are not being permitted; Paris does not have the right to assemble because of a state of Martial Law in the city. Micheal Mayer, DJ and co-owner of Kompakt, wants to bring awareness to this cause of ending climate change, and therefore is hosting a live stream on Beatport, which will kick off at 5 pm CET on Saturday, December 5 and continue to the 6th. This is a world-wide silent disco.
The purpose of this stream is to create awareness surrounding the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. Together, we are showing solidarity and memory for those impacted by the recent events in Paris and putting a focus on the discussions engaged at this critical conference.
“‘A DJ speaks through his records.’ … I’ve always been fascinated by this idea. Creating a themed mix to soundtrack a world-wide dance party for the most important cause has allowed me to take that idea very literally. This is protest house.” – Micheal Mayer
