Hard dance music is very much still an underground and under-represented genre in the Northwest music scene. But it wasn’t always that way. By no means was it ever the sound of a time, but there were plenty of events you could go to around the region that could fulfill the need for the faster-paced genre. The most popular of those events was MAYHEM. MAYHEM was brought into the world with a singular vision: to highlight and showcase hard music in the Pacific Northwest. Over the next few years it grew to become the premier hard music series, hosting more than 20 events in its short run. On June 13, 2014, it was laid to rest after the final MAYHEM at Studio 7.
Mayhem Events, Seattle Hardcore, and Nu Breed Entertainment have joined forces to resurrect this great hardstyle-focused event. We spoke with the founder of Mayhem Events, Marc Pospisil, (previously the owner of PHASE 3 Events) about why he felt it was time to bring back the once cherished events. Essentially the timing was right. When Marc was hosting these shows on his own, the work load was enormous. On top of that he had been offered a position in another industry that required 50-70 hours a week. Now that his time has freed up and he has joined forces with Nu Breed and Seattle Hardcore, the timing was perfect. Just to be clear, don’t expect Whiteout or Blackout to come back anytime soon.
“I always loved throwing shows, I felt like I still had more to offer so since my schedule allowed for it, and the timing felt right, here I am.” Marc Pospisil
The resurrection will be held on Jan 15, 2016 at Studio 7 in downtown Seattle. MAYHEM: Ressurection will be the rebirth of the hard music series featuring the Darren Styles and Kutski. The promoters are promising to bring bigger production and artists in the genre from around the world. What about you? Are you ready for some MAYHEM!?
