Who is Mau P?
You might have found yourself asking that question when looking at upcoming festivals lineups for this summer. The 26-year-old Dutch tech house producer burst onto the scene last year with his immensely popular tune Drugs From Amsterdam, spending time at #1 on Beatport and finally receiving an official music video just three weeks ago that perfectly captures the chaotic Amsterdam nightlife.
What many might not realize is that Mau P, real name Maurits Westveen, has been producing music for the last eight years. While initially beginning as a big room DJ under the name Maurice West, Mau P comes from a family of musicians and fell in love with dance music at the age of 14.
While trying to make it as a big room producer, he secretly worked on side projects to experiment with the tech house genre, eventually leading to Drugs From Amsterdam being the #1 song in the EDM world. With seemingly just the release of one song, Mau P has joined the other tech house giants like John Summit, Acraze, and Dom Dolla, but Mau P has been waiting for this moment!

Will Mau P be able to follow up his success in 2023? After his worldwide introduction in 2022, Mau P has big plans for this year. He recently released a follow up tech house banger, Gimme That Bounce, officially releasing on Jan 27. It features Mau P’s signature style used in Drugs From Amsterdam, and wastes no time getting into an infectious bassline, accompanied by minimalist vocals that hype up the drop and create another fun party anthem.
Don’t miss Mau P at Q Nightclub on March 16 in Seattle, the very next night in Portland at 45EAST on March 17, and then again at Beyond Wonderland PNW at the Gorge on June 17-18, 2023. The lineup this year is extremely stacked, and we can’t wait to see Mau P in the PNW!
