[divider]CONCLUSION: DMNW RECOMMENDS[/divider]
For dance fans, not the best place to get a great EDM experience but still not a complete miss. We felt like the apathetic crowds we saw in so many places reflected our sentiment; Bumbershoot is a great festival but wasn’t worth getting too excited about this year.
Although other media outlets, such as The Seattle Times and The Stranger either didn’t give an overall opinion at all, or seemed generally positive about the experience, we really question the staying power of Bumbershoot. Is it like some of the banks that survived the financial collapse in 2007 -too big to fail? We have to wonder whether it’s really the fanbase keeping this cultural institution afloat.
Bottom line: Don’t buy tickets for next year until we see what is in store for the Electronic lineup. We’d love to see the stage moved back to the Sky Church in the EMP, but we’ll have to see what happens. Did you attend this year? If so, please share your thoughts below.
