WHIPPED CREAM
Watching the consistent rise of Vancouver’s WHIPPED CREAM throughout the last few years has been a blast. Also known as Caroline Cecil, the now Los Angeles-based artist is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. She’s shared her unique blend of bass and hip-hop on grand festival stages at Shambhala, Holy Ship!, Lost Lands, Lollapalooza, and countless others. She’s a certified “can’t miss set” no matter where she’s playing, and that is absolutely the case when it comes to her performing at The Gorge this summer.
Ekali
Northwest dance music fans are familiar with the uber-talented Ekali. Hailing from Vancouver, Ekali, aka Nathan Shaw, has performed at clubs and festivals throughout the PNW for a while now, and began his most recent tour in Vancouver and Seattle. He released his debut album, A World Away, last month, and teased that a side-project is on the way later this year as well. We’ll always make time to catch Ekali performing in the Northwest, especially when he has an entire album of new tunes to share.
Felix Cartal
Performing throughout the PNW on a regular basis, including Paradiso 2013, Felix Cartal is the definition of a Northwest favorite. The DJ/producer from Vancouver has released three studio albums, with the first coming a decade ago. Suffice it to say his style of electronica has more than caught on, and it’s easy to see why. His high-level productions are consitently top notch, and getting to enjoy those productions live is a good time for everyone involved. That trend continues this summer, as Felix Cartal released Mine last week, featuring Sophie Simmons.
Juelz
When an artist like Ekali brings you on his tour, it’s a good thing. When an artist like RL Grime wants to collaborate with you, it’s a good thing, too. Those signs, and many more, have everyone excited about Juelz, who toured with Ekali in 2016 and released a tune with RL Grime a few months ago. The Vancouver-based artist is one of the rising stars in trap/hip-hop, and his inclusion on the Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge lineup has us as excited for the next phase of his career.
Nostalgix
Nostalgix, aka Negar Hamidi, is another Northwest artist making a name for herself on the Night Bass label. She released the OG Sins EP several months ago, and followed that up with original tune Mind Tricks. A North American tour was set to follow that, but as is the case with every Spring event, the shows have been postponed/canceled. That’s not the case as of yet for Beyond Wonderland, where Nostalgix will be making her return to The Gorge, the first since her performance at Paradiso 2017.
Tails
Tails, aka Spencer Reid, is a Vancouver artist showcasing the diversity of bass music on a regular basis. He collaborated with fellow Beyond Wonderland artist Juelz several months ago on Cobra, which was released by renowned Vancouver-based music label Monstercat. Shortly thereafter, No Sleep/Hyperventilate, a two-track EP, was also released via the Northwest label. Tails is no stranger to performing in the Northwest, with the PNW gets lots of love when it comes to his touring schedule. Now, he’ll be making it back-to-back years with performances at The Gorge, following his set at Paradiso 2019.
