Support for those impacted by the largest collection of wildfires in Washington state history is continuing over the next couple weeks, thanks to several local clubs and community groups. Foundation, Q, Trinity, Aston Manor, and more are hosting several events throughout the coming weeks to assist those battling what has been dubbed the ‘Okanogan Complex‘. The cluster of fires has been going-strong since mid-August, destroying more than 170 homes, and dozens of other buildings and structures. These events are focused on gathering donations, supplies, and everything else necessary to assist those battling the wildfires first-hand over the last few weeks.
We know everyone can’t jump and head to the front-lines, but we can do our part. However big or small it may be, when it comes to situations like this, every little bit truly helps. Thankfully, one of the great aspects of our community is how it responds to tough-times. There are several events taking place over the coming weeks which gives us all an opportunity to have a positive impact on the Northwest, in a very real way.
The Good Vibe Tribe, a non-profit organization based out of Seattle, has been hosting events with drop-off locations for donations throughout the week, with two more events taking place. They will be at the Maison Tavern on Thursday, September 3rd from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m., and at Super Genius Tattoo on Friday, September 4th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. If you’re unable to make it to either of the final drop-off days, you can still help out, as they have a GoFundMe page set up with 100% of the donations going toward needed supplies.
You can also catch local artists Sharps and Kutt at the Maison Tavern on Thursday, September 3rd, providing the entertainment for ‘Fuel The Cause, Not The Flames‘. The event is supported by several local clubs, and takes place from 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m., with the proceeds from the night going to Community Foundation of North Central Washington. If you can’t make it out, the event has a GoFundMe page as well, where donations can be made.
Keeping the momentum going, Foundation Nightclub is hosting ‘A Washington Wildfire Benefit‘ as part of their SUBstance Wednesdays series on September 9th. Featuring Sir Kuts, Highdrops, R0ME, Dirty Byrdz, Treyis, Monte, ENDR, T-Rips, N0fux Gibbons, and Diet-Z, the event goes from 10 p.m. – 1:45 a.m. Foundation has the ability to accept donations (as tickets) via TicketFly, with tickets purchased lacking a TicketFly or facility fee. One-hundred percent of the ticket amount will be donated to the 2015 Okanogan Complex Fire Relief Fund.
There is also a fundraiser benefiting the Chelan Valley Hope and Give Naked at Lucky Strike Bellevue on Monday, September 14th. There will be a bowling tournament and silent auction, with registration and donations available online. You can get contact info and further details regarding ‘Bowl For Chelan’ via the event’s Facebook page.
Our goal is to elevate not only dance music, but our local community as well. Elevating means helping out when times are toughest, and doing what we can when we’re needed most. Let us know which of these local events we’ll be seeing you at over the next couple weeks by commenting below, on Facebook, or replying on Twitter!
