Static Music (UK) is a fantastic, under-appreciated, quickly growing label that’s been pushing out tons of great releases recently. Their style primarily is centered around 4/4 dance music, but their artist and song selection transcends genres, styles, and cultures. We have chosen three newer tracks from them to highlight their label’s consistency and awesomeness as a whole, but also to expose new listeners to this style of entrancing music. Whether you’re looking for more introspective/deep/tech DJ tracks, club bangers, meditative study or workout music, Static is doing an outstanding job balancing talented musicians and diverse styles, all with a signature contemplative danceable groove.
Their head honcho, David Green, is no newbie to the electronic scene. He’s been running labels since the late 90’s and has a sincere appreciation for quality music. This appreciation is clearly evidenced in the tunes released from Static thus far- outstandingly memorable, modern, beautiful, and thought-provoking music.
Deadbeat-Mountains from Mole Hills
Scott Monteith (Deadbeat) strives to create interesting, imaginative music by infusing modernity with the magic of “human imperfection” (Static Music).
Deadbeat continues to establish this unique sound and vision with new release, Mountains from Mole Hills. A magical infusion of heavy percussion, smooth synths and a harmonic horn section, this minimal and groovy, driving track showcases Deadbeat‘s distinctive sound.
This track is an exciting and mysterious journey. It transitions from flowing and increasing intensities into a heavily percussive techno groove.
Oscar P – Words You Say (Dub Mix)
Words You Say is Oscar P’s debut release with Static Music. The Brooklyn-native fuses Afro-Latino and Deep House influences from NYC, Chicago and Detroit, to make a sound that is truly his own.
The main focus of Words You Say is a classic, psychedelic, and moving motif; simultaneously glossy and rugged, building slowly, guaranteed to captivate the minds of any dance-oriented individual.
Oscar P is also the head honcho of two house labels, Kolour Recordings and Open Bar Music. As a producer, he’s worked on labels including Strictly Rhythm, Tool Room, Ultra & Sony Music and his portfolio includes breathtaking and acclaimed remixes for the likes of Mark Farina, KiNK, Soul Minority, Jamiroquai, Adele, Omar, Todd Terry (another amazing artist on the Static Music imprint), & Physics.
Spencer K – Magnetic
This final track we’re sharing with you is a heavy fist-pumping banger, Magnetic. Spencer K (Lyon, France) has releases on notable labels including but not limited to Defected, Toolroom, Glasgow Underground, and Stereo Production.
If you like heavy 4/4, introspective, and often emotional music like Sébastien Léger, you’re in for a real treat. We hope to hear more from Spencer K in the future; we’ve been rinsing this track recently and it slaps unbelievably hard on the dance-floor. Their music reminds us a lot of the recently popular synthesis of electronic dance music and other worldly forms, as done by artists like Jey Kurmis and Nicolas Jaar, who recently played in Seattle.
