If you ever find yourself in need of something to do on a Friday night, then Fez Ballroom is the place first place you should look. Asylum Events brings us Rage Friday’s and last week LA Riots was on the agenda with a two hour set that wouldn’t soon be forgotten. Proto D and PartyGirl started the night out strong, and the vibes were infectious as you entered the third floor of Fez.
It’s not very common that you walk onto the floor of a night club and there are blow-up guitars, machine guns, and crayons flying through the air. We don’t know about you, but that sure sounds like a party starter to us. Once we got out hands on those blow-up conga drums, that was it!
When 12:00am rolled around many other events were reaching their end, but the party was just getting started for us as Daniel Linton, or LA Riots if you’re looking at a marquee, took to the decks. Daniel is no newbie when it comes to the scene. LA Riots was formed in 2007 as a duo along with former member John O’Brien. After the split, Linton continued on in with a bit of a new sound involving tech-house, some drum & bass influences, and even a bit of the ever-popular big room.
All of these sounds are what set the scene for a perfect night. Drinks were downed, feet shuffled, air guitars were played, and smiles and laughter were shining from every face in the crowd. To say that LA Riots didn’t bring the riots straight to Portland would be a complete lie, and we cannot wait for him to grace the decks in Portland once again.
