Oh goodness, how we love festival season. In just a couple of short weeks we will be able to see Krewella on the MainStage at Paradiso at the Gorge with some of you beautiful people. The aptly named “Sex On The Dance Floor” Troll Mix Vol. 13 from Krewella has just made that wait a little harder. While we know them as a group that tends to throw down some hard-partying, “live forever and stay up all night” lyrics this mix had some wonderful surprises.
There is of course some of the Krewella we know in here, but there are also tidbits that hint at the true artistry that goes into producing a mix, such as Carl Sagan’s famed speech from the original Cosmos. Some of our other favorite treats were throwing in Birdy’s rendition of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love and Calvin Harris’ Summer and their nod to fellow Paradiso headliners Above and Beyond with Sun and Moon.
We can’t wait to see Krewella take the stage at the Gorge!
This mix is an hour of pure bliss, with something for almost everybody. A bit of trap sneaks in at the beginning, but then it takes us on a glorious roller coaster of trance and house and beats that just won’t kit. The mix flows like, well, a really good night in with someone you are intimate with. Despite it just dropping today several members of our team have played it several times, and each listen brings new nuances and treats we didn’t catch on the first (or second!) listen.
