DMNW alum and Pacific Northwest native, Kendoll, released her Playhouse EP on Night Bass this week. The five-track EP runs the gamut from bass house to garage, with her signature sound fitting right in with the rest of AC Slater’s label. Playhouse shows off Kendoll’s killer production skills and proves that she deserves the hype surrounding her recent performances.
One of the most tangible influences on Playhouse is UK bass music. The title track has a hard-hitting bass line accompanying Dread MC’s feature. All of the tracks focus on bass synths with mellow timbres, used to create relentless bass lines that make you want to get up and dance.
Her minimal style really highlights every element in the texture. In Effect is one of the tracks that does this the best, and we’ll be blasting it all summer. The former Seattle local is a master at using small changes to keep you hooked all the way through a track. Her collaboration with Grensta, Rave All Night, finishes the album, and will have you doing just that.
Playhouse is an incredible addition to Kendoll’s already prolific discography. She’s already been found herself on an rapid upward trajectory, including a stellar performance at Beyond Wonderland, and a place on this year’s EDC Las Vegas lineup.
