Becoming the latest of many producers to launch their own labels, Justin James just announced the launch of his new record label, refused. with the unveiling of his new track Not The Curator, set to launch on May 20th. Not the Curator is a back-to-basics techno track that takes you on a journey of the mind to a place of deep bass-lines and beats that are reminiscent of grungy warehouse clubs of the 90’s.
Techno may just be the catch-all term our parents use to describe the “beeps and bloops” we are so fond of, but it is so much more. Justin’s release of Not the Curator serves as yet another reminder that Techno truly is it’s own genre that has managed to stand strong throughout the decades. This is a genre that is devoid of the heavy vocals and big drops that have come to be focal points of mainstream EDM, but is so beautiful in the diversity and complexity that is found in the tracks. Rather than waiting for the drop we are able to enjoy the track for what it is, a beautiful combination of beats designed to put us in a mood that gives no choice but to dance for hours while the music takes us far away.
We look forward to seeing what else comes out from refused. and are wishing Justin all the best with his new label. Give Not the Curator a listen below and tell us what you think, we can’t wait to hear from you.
