Every once in a while, a track comes out and you can just taste that it’s ripe for the upcoming festival circuit. It’s usually got a great melody or a memorable, sing-along vocal. Sometimes, when we get really lucky, it’s even got both. Such is the case with Jenaux’s latest fest-bait Turn Your World Around. The New York City up-and-comer has proven over again that crafting a massive progressive banger isn’t about an overload of sounds. It’s all about simple, beautiful melodies and uplifting sounds.
Turn Your World Around breaks out of pre-roll with an absolutely gorgeous palm muted guitar riff. Premiered today on Tritonia 038, It bounces back and forth in the speakers playfully. The vocal, provided by Jared Lee, is quick to follow suit. There’s a restlessness and immediacy to it, a sing-song vibe the begs the listener to sing along. “Hold on, hold on, be strong, be strong” croons Lee in a perfect falsetto.

Then the drop arrives. Taking cues from Swedish House Mafia and Tommy Trash, the supersaw-jammed chorus is perfect for throwing up your arms and jumping like a kangaroo. It’s a familiar sound without being derivative. We revisit the vocal line again to make sure everyone got their chance to belt it out, and then it’s back to the drop to finish it all off.
Turn Your World Around practically begs to be remixed. The vocal is versatile enough to be at home on top of electro, dubstep, trap, or even big room. It shines by being the kind of vocal cut that could easily thrive on just a piano or guitar. Turn Your World Around demonstrates Jenaux and Jared Lee’s ability to remember that less is almost always more. Mark our words, you’ll be hearing this one at Paradiso.
