Speaking of headlining… in case you were ever wondering, a Dada after party is BANANAS: Lots of champagne and bananas. Being up on stage and having that much energy is a massive work out according to Stefan and we have no issue believing him. They get to sneak in a protein shake just to get back what they put in that they couldn’t get from the bananas that are always within arms reach while they DJ. Stefan also educated us on proper banana opening procedure “you always take the big handle and open it. Like a human.”
We were unfortunately unable to witness Stefan opening the banana first-hand as they were lacking where we met him, but we trust the man knows what he’s doing. Some people got a little up in arms (pun intended) when the rules of Dada were amended to include “No Airplane DJ Poses and No Heart Hands.” While it may seem like a petty jab at the behavior of some other DJs, the amendment was made to change the way people think.
“We want to do something different. So if we ban it, we force people to think differently and maybe they come up with something new. If everybody was doing the same thing, it would be kind of boring.”
Despite the early time of morning that the interview took place after the Compound, we had an absolute blast talking to Stefan and hope to see him and Olle in our glorious town again. We just hope they give us warning to protect our fish so they have trouble stealing them. At one point Stefan did say that his brain was a little melted. What was your experience at the Dada Land Compound? Did you have as amazing of a time as Stefan did? Check back in a couple of days for Part two, where we’ll get to share Stefan’s thoughts on having such an in-tune counterpart and the hard work they do in the studio, as well as what we can look forward to from them next.
