The Seattle Compound stop was a bittersweet one, because while we got to celebrate the Dada Land Compound finally touching down in our city, it was only half of the dynamic duo. We wish to respect Olle’s privacy and didn’t delve very deep into his absence with the knowledge that what matters is his focus on his health. We did, however, want to know how Stefan was managing as half of Dada, especially since due to his health issues earlier this year, as he was on the other end of touring alone. As it turns out, all of the amazing visuals you saw during the show were being run by Stefan in addition to the live goodness he was filling our ears with. As one might imagine that’s a bit more challenging without a partner in crime.
“There is so much stuff happening and since we do everything with the graphics behind us and we control everything from stage and when you do it alone theres no time to reflect or relax. But then of course it’s like you feel like its half of you being out there because we have been doing this for so long so it’s like something is missing.”
We were curious when Stefan has time to relax while doing all of what he does on tour, and were amazed to hear that with the exception of a few fleeting hours of sleep in a hotel bed or on an airplane, he really is going nonstop. With all that said he made it clear that he has gratitude for all of it. He says it’s the best feeling in the world, even when it means he has to do it all while his counterpart is laid up. The Asia tour is just about to start, but we hope he’s been able to enjoy his downtime since then.
Fear not however, as Stefan had an absolute blast on stage with us and has a lot of love for Seattle. He shared that the energy and pure happiness that is felt on stage is there with or without his partner. He would, however, like an extra arm in order to make it easier to work the visuals while manning the turntables as well. Perhaps this is something management and insurance would be willing to let him look into for future iterations of the tour?
