The New Year may be off to a rough start for some; who knows how our resolutions are going. The dreaded Singles Awareness Day is just around the corner and Christmas credit card debt may still be looming. What we all need is something to look forward to. One of those things might be a little trip to Europe; godfather of modern dance music, Giorgio Moroder, will be touring at the age of 78!
He’s scheduled a number of European dates, including four in the UK, to demonstrate to everyone his DJing prowess. In April he’ll be gracing Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Manchester, performing on piano vocoder and synths. He’ll be alongside a live band and vocalists. It’ll be a show for the deepest of music fans, since the man has been spinning and producing since the 1960s after all.
This icon has had an illustrious career as a pioneer in dance music. Moroder started producing pop music, before scoring his first major hit in 1972 with Son of My Father which flew to #1 in the UK.
His track I Feel Love with by Donna Summer helped influence the very fabric of pop music. He went on in his career to produce more hits for their time, with icons like Blondie and David Bowie.

More recently he’s collaborated with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories and released a solo album titled Déjà Vu. He’s worked with Britney Spears, Sia, Kylie Minogue and even Lady Gaga. This legendary man making a tour from April 1-5 is nothing short of an opportunity to see some of the raw talent that drove electronic innovation.
