Admit it. Your ears perk up whenever you see a Dillon Francis “rebirth”. On the cusp of releasing his new album Money Sucks, Friends Rule, taco/cat enthusiast Dillon Francis is back at it again, pairing up with DJ Snake to remix their banger Get Low. For the last few months, Get Low has dominated festival sets, mixes and radio waves. It even featured a pretty ridiculous music video. EVERYBODY has played it. Despite its insistence on continually finding its way into our ear drums, Get Low’s Middle Eastern synth combined with its trappy bass and snares has left us all yearning to live the Egyptian Thug Life at some point. These two producers have been dropping Get Low (The Rebirth in Paris) all throughout festival season and we are excited to finally hear to the completed version.
Get Low (The Rebirth in Paris) is essentially a tale of two totally different drops. Dillon Francis and DJ Snake start the song with a thumping, uptempo electro house bass, teasing for what’s about to come on the first drop. The ~128 bpm tempo continues as the song builds and drops into some reverberating big room electro house. While this part of the song feels a bit generic to us, the faster tempo accompanies the Egyptian-sounding synth much better than the slower original. The mix down and transition into the next part of the song is incredible. The song builds back and drops into some pretty heavy trap that is slower and more heavily snared than the original. This drop is likely to make even your grandmother want to twerk.
This is a song of contrast and there is something in this rebirth for all dance music heads. Props go out to DJ Snake and Dillon Francis for improving their hit and adding some different elements.
