French producer Gesaffelstein has signed with Columbia Records. This unprecedented turn of events comes five years after the release of his freshman album Aleph and a handful of cryptic billboards appearing in Los Angeles, New York City and France bearing the producer’s name.
At the time of release a Columbia Records rep could not comment further. However, hopefully this signing indicates the imminent arrival of brand new material. It is an exciting development in the career of the firebrand techno producer. The Lyon-based producer has production credits on tracks by The Weeknd as well as Kanye West, Miss Kittin and Lana Del Rey to name a few. His work is also featured on the soundtrack for the film adaption of Divergent, as well as the major motion picture Maryland.
While at this time there are no tour dates announced, Gesaffelstein has not made a stop in the Pacific Northwest since his 2015 appearances. His last Seattle appearance was at Q Nightclub in November 2015. This was followed by a performance at Celebrities of Vancouver. We’re hoping that with this new deal he’ll be able to stop by after the three year hiatus from our shores.
