[divider]How Music Is Made[/divider]
The first question that was brought forth by Matt was directed mainly to Reed. Matt said that he had this romantic vision of him and his band mates in a dorm room at the University of Washington producing their music on lap tops. Pointing out that the way music was created in the 90’s was completely different than what it takes presently. Reed confirmed Matts romantic vision saying that it started with him and a friend plugging in their “shity laptops” and using the tools that were available to them. In this day and age, this is the story that plays out for many young musicians and artists.
Reed elaborated on the beginnings of Beat Connection pointing out that getting music out to the masses is mostly a contextual change. Back in the 90’s you would get a demo put together and send them out to the radio stations and labels. Now you’re essentially doing the same, except that the medium has changed to a digital platform.
