Buying loop and sample packs are a hit or miss ball game. Even those that seem really awesome at first occasionally turn out to be just layers upon layers of garbage. Professional-grade sample packs cost a pretty penny and aren’t really any better. We’ve definitely been at shows and heard a sound or loop and thought to ourselves, “I know where that one came from.” Free sound packs are king — if you can find a good one. Luckily, we’ve found one for you.
Portland-based record label and collective STYLSS has released their first sample pack, STYLSS Sample Pack – Volume One. The pack includes over 500 samples and sounds provided by STYLSS affiliates from the likes of BLEEP BLOOP, QUARRY, and Tyler Tastemaker, compiled together to make the ultimate package. The pack spans hip-hop, dark techno, and ambient genres and has a collection of found sounds from busses to bong rips. And we’ll let you guess if we found the sound of an “ass clap” included in the mix.
It’s a solid sample pack and well-worth the thirty minutes it takes to download. An impressive 2000 people have already downloaded STYLSS Sample Pack since its release.
Producers, are you ready to make some music? Get to it because the first song teaser has already been released by FLORO out of Los Angeles.
Download the free sample pack, and when you’re ready, share your new song with STYLSS and submit your track to Dance Music Northwest. We love receiving new music, especially from Pacific Northwest locals, and we do everything we can to listen to each track!
