Carnage

DJ Carnage is making another trip to the Northwest at FreakNight 2015, continuing to return the love he’s felt while appearing in the region throughout his career. The stylings of the Chipotle-enthusiast have become must-see stuff for festival attendees across the world, and we’re happy to get his brand of energetic madness in the Northwest as often as we do. No matter the stage, or when it takes place, Carnage’s set at FreakNight 2015 is an event every raver should find time to enjoy.

Carnage, also known as Diamante Blackmon, last tore-apart the Northwest at Lucky 2014. Between Northwest stops, Carnage has featured at festivals like Coachella and EDC, while releasing several original tunes and remixes. Specializing in festival trap, Carnage can successfully spin a wide variety of genres, and it would be best to expect anything and everything come FreakNight 2015.

Diplo

If there’s a producer who’s had a more productive and successful 2015 than Diplo, we haven’t found them. The 36-year-old artist, apart from managing his solo-career, is also one-third of Major Lazer, one-half of Jack Ü, and is involved in seemingly every aspect of the dance music industry. Born Thomas Wesley Pentz, Diplo also founded and runs his own label, Mad Decent, which has a roster any record company would enjoy. His exploits outside EDM, in genres like hip-hop, pop, and R&B, speak for themselves. Now, somehow, Diplo is finding time to spend Halloween-weekend with us.

Taking festival season by storm, Major Lazer’s Lean On was heard countless times at mainstages around the world. At the same time, cuts from Jack Ü’s debut album, Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack Ü, has been fueling live-sets and mixes since it’s release in February. Getting to hear those tunes from the man himself will be a great follow-up to his last Northwest festival performance, when Diplo went B2B with DJ Snake at Lucky 2014. Another FreakNight headliner whose resume’ stands out a bit more than the rest, Diplo is an artist that’s always worth the price of admission.

Brillz

With a unique perspective on what the music can make your body do, Brillz is a familiar face in the Northwest that can bring the Twonk Team to the area anytime he pleases. He was at Lucky 2015, Paradiso 2014, and had shows in both Seattle and Portland last year as well. A founding member of dance crew ‘Liquid Pop Collective’, before getting into production and DJing, Brillz has developed and refined his style of trappy tunes that set themselves apart from the rest of the growing genre. He’s released tunes on many of dance music’s top labels like OWSLA, Slow Roast Records, and Mad Decent, and his Twonk Team mixtapes are consistent parts of our playlists.

ETC!ETC!

ETC!ETC! is another of the artists making their FreakNight redemption this year, after missing his performance on the cancelled second night last year. He’s already made up for it in some fashion, performing at both the Showbox and Foundation earlier this year, but we’ll gladly take more from the Mad Decent man. Releasing his debut album, Killafornia, in 2012, ETC!ETC! has been steadily expanding his sound and style ever since. The Los Angeles-based artist is one of the shrinking number of artists who can back up their production chops with their live-sets. CHeck out his first Northwest festival appearance since Paradiso 2013.

℧Z

A mysterious artist who’s managed to keep their identity a secret, despite a massive burst in popularity, is ℧Z. DJing in a mask and long-sleeve sweater, the cryptic artist instead focuses on the music. It’s easy to focus on the music  when the productions are as good as ℧Z’s, and releases on Mad Decent, SMOG, and more are reputable indicators of the faceless producer’s talent. This will be the closest to the Emerald City ℧Z has come, although s/he stopped in Vancouver, Tri-Cities, and at What The Festival!? throughout the last 12 months. Letting the music speak for itself has got ℧Z this far, and we’ll be trying to catch a glimpse of one of the breakout artists of 2014 at FreakNight this fall.

Wuki

Melting together all of our favorite aspects of hip-hop, with electro and house, Denver’s Wuki is exactly what makes trap perfect for festivals. FreakNight 2015 will be Wuki’s Northwest debut, as the up-and-coming artist continues his massive year of major career accomplishments. Also known as Kris Barman, Wuki is dominating 2015, performing at Webster Hall, EDC – Las Vegas, and Nocturnal Wonderland, all the while releasing music via OWSLA, Fools Gold, and more. One of our favorite new artists, don’t miss Wuki’s unique brand of booty tunes at FreakNight.

TroyBoi

It wouldn’t be a proper USC Events festival without a bunch of Brits, and London’s TroyBoi joins the club when he brings ‘my style’ to the Northwest this fall. Also one-half of the SoundSnobz with icekream, TroyBoi marks another great breakout booking for FreakNight 2015. He’s dropped collabs with Craze and Flosstradamus earlier this year, offering up his melange of middle-eastern beats to the fray. His July performance at Q Nightclub was cancelled this summer due to visa issues, and if you’re looking to make up for the missed opportunity, here’s your best shot.
