LAXX
One of the breakout artists of the last 18 months, UK-based LAXX is making a quick return to the Northwest after performing at the Showbox Sodo earlier this year, alongside Crizzly. Also known as James Churchill, LAXX is another gem for SKisM’s bass-tastic Never Say Die label. Showcasing his bright new talent in the best way we can imagine, SKisM is going B2B with LAXX at FreakNight this fall. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the bass music trendsetter performed in a similar fashion in the Northwest in the not-so-distant past. SKisM went B2B with Zomboy at Lucky 2013, and we’re excited to see what LAXX has in store for his Northwest festival debut. Releasing his first tune in 2014, the best is definitely yet to come from LAXX, and we hope the young artist continues to make the Northwest part of his touring plans throughout his career.
SKisM
Beginning his career in 2009, London’s SKisM is a major reason for the impressive state of bass music today. The Never Say Die label boss has played huge roles in the careers of artists like Zomboy, Eptic, Must Die!, and countless others. He’s continuing to push his limits, and has focused much of his efforts in 2015 on his new sub-label, Never Say Die: Black Label. The new label has an emphasis on dubstep, and has been regularly releasing new tunes throughout the year. While all of these impacts and skills are of vast importance, it’s DJing where SKisM earns his stripes.
He generally finds his way to our corner of the continent at least once a year, and has performed at two past USC Events festivals, Paradiso 2012 and Lucky 2013. Always adding something special, SKisM is performing B2B with one of the breakout bass artsits of 2015: LAXX. It will be the second time the duo plays together, after they performed B2B at EDC – Las Vegas this summer. Throw in the fact that it’s FreakNight and everything about SKisM’s set at the Tacoma Dome this fall makes it a must-go. Bass music without SKisM is a frightening thought, but not anymore than missing his performance at FreakNight 2015, so treat yourself to what will likely (definitely) be the filthiest dubstep set of the night.
Fury + MC Dino
It’ll be a trio of FreakNight performances for DJ Fury & MC Dino when they take the stage at the Tacoma Dome this fall. Denver-based Fury, also known as Steve Blakely, has been a Northwest-festival-regular unlike any other artist in recent memory. The ‘King of Jungle’ has already featured at seven Northwest festival since 2012, twice at Resolution (2014, 2015), three times at Paradiso (2013, 2014, 2015), and twice at FreakNight (2012, 2013). Transitioning from life as a professional snowboarder in the early 1990s, Fury’s sets are consistently one of the most energetic of the festival and his skills on the decks are far more treat than trick. It wouldn’t be the bass stage at a USC massive if Fury & MC Dino weren’t there, and we’ll be happy everytime the duo returns to the Northwest.

NERO
We know we aren’t the only ones who’ve been begging for NERO’s return, and the British trio’s inclusion in the FreakNight 2015 lineup puts the two-night event firmly in the ‘can’t miss’ column. Daniel Stephens, Joe Ray, and Alana Watson are fan-favorites throughout dance music, and their specific brand of bass is as infectious as it is heavy.
They’ll be fresh off the release of their second studio album, Between II Worlds, which comes four years after their hit-filled debut, Welcome Reality. Despite the follow-up work being delayed a couple of weeks, Between II Worlds will undoubtedly be one of the best albums of the year. We’ve already been treated to a handful of tunes off of the album, and we’re safely expecting more of the same dub-filled greatness we’ve been treated to throughout NERO’s existence.
A North American tour accompanies Between II Worlds, with NERO stopping in 20 cities and four time-zones. They spent the summer touring at festivals throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, and will be giving fans on our side of the Atlantic plenty of opportunities to get their long-awaited NERO fix. They’ll be performing on day one of FreakNight, according to their website’s tour listings, and that makes for a fun-filled first day, with deadmau5 performing that night as well. They’ll also both be featured on the same day at HARD Day Of The Dead on October 31st. It’s safe to say that, wherever and whenever NERO perform in the Northwest, we will be there. We know you will be too, so make sure to get your FreakNight plans sorted ASAP!
Adventure Club
Canadian duo Adventure Club have been Northwest-favorites from the get-go, and getting a headlining performance for FreakNight is a treat every basshead will enjoy. Christian Srigley and Leighton James have consistently made their way to the Northwest throughout their careers, making their last visits during the Safe In Sound 2014 tour. There’s no such thing as too much Adventure Club, and melodic dubstep sounds like a perfect fit for Halloween-weekend.
Since their last trip to the Northwest, Adventure Club have had a renewed focus on their ‘Superheroes Anonymous’ radio show series. They’ve released two episodes in the last six months, and we’re hoping the trend continues. We’re also hoping for more new tunes from the duo, with their last EP coming out in October of 2013. It doesn’t matter if it’s a production, a mix, or a live-set, Adventure Club is bass music every EDM fan can enjoy. They’re regulars in our region and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Important things happen in Pacific Northwest nightlife, and DMNW will send you alerts!
