Steven Ellison, better known as Flying Lotus , has been a little on the quiet side recently. When that happens, that can mean the artist is busy creating, whether it’s a new album, or sometimes things like a higher-end stage setup. While the Flying Lotus’ stage setup isn’t exactly brand new, the idea behind it is simple yet unique. Having two separate visual technicians (one for visuals in the front and one for the back), the patterns and designs are mixed together on the spot to give the audience a one-of-a-kind 3D experience. Who doesn’t want their own unique show each time? Flying Lotus has been headlining massive venues and festivals all around the country for several years. This is the perfect opportunity to witness Flying Lotus live. in an intimate setting, Combine this with the euphoria of a 3D show, and a great show should result.
Flying Lotus just released his new CD You’re Dead! on Warp Records. You’re Dead! has already received rave reviews from Pitchfork. All of Flying Lotus’ previous releases have had a seperate theme/meaning for each album and You’re Dead! is no different, as the album revolves around the dark mysteries of death. This could create some interesting 3D images in his live show. Maybe we can get some more outtakes this time around?
Flying Lotus have a slew of upcoming dates and one of them is at the Neptune Theatre on Tuesday, November 18th. Be sure to catch the 3D experience!
