Flume Puts Glitchy, Beautiful Spin On Lorde’s “Tennis Court”

Every once in awhile we hear a remix that we have to play over and over to believe it’s really as awesome as we think it is: Flume’s remix of Tennis Court is one of those remixes. Flume puts an awesome spin on Lorde’s already stellar track Tennis Court, blending her lyrics with a darker beat that matches perfectly with her haunting voice. Lorde, legally known as Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, has a voice perfect for an EDM twist, and for his remix efforts Flume did not disappoint.
Don’t you think that it’s boring how people talk/Making smart with their words again, well I’m bored/Because I’m doing this for the thrill of it, killin’ it/Never not chasing a million things I want
Sometimes Aussies and Kiwis are known to pick at each other, but in the case of the Australian native Flume and Zealander Lorde, an amazing partnership occurred on this track as it is very apparent that Flume “got” the original feeling of the track.  Tennis Court‘s lyrics speak of a girl not comfortable with the people and places where she is currently living, instead telling us that “pretty soon I’ll be getting on my first plane, I’ll see the veins of my city like they do in space.” Flume’s remix echoes this, with a funky rhythm that conveys the discomfort of dealing with the wicked games people play with each other and wanting to move beyond them. Give Flume’s track a listen or three and tell us if you like his take on the New Zealand dynamo.

Lizzy has been raving since the wee age of 14 after being grounded for a month for having rave fliers in her bag. Like her other love, snowboarding, what was supposed to be "a phase" has become an essential part of her life and she is excited to see a new generation developing the same love.
