Back in 2012, Harley Streten dropped his self titled album, Flume, and has been on a nonstop trip to the top of the charts since. 2015 alone was quite the year for Flume, with colabs, remixes, and even the long awaited release of his final works with What So Not. Yet, amongst all of the world wide touring and music festivals, Harley has (up until recently) been rather quiet about working on a second album. Coming fresh into the new year, we’ve now added another album we can not wait to get our hands…and ears on.
This week fans were greeted with an Instagram post that included the name of Flume’s next album, simply titled Skin. He also included what could possibly be the album cover art work. No word on an official release date but according the the post, “the album is almost done.” An early spring or late winter release would make sense with festival season just around the corner. But, it’s looking like we’ll have to keep patient on this one and enjoy the 4 minute preview currently available as a free download.
Coming in at just over 4 and a half minutes the Skin preview already has us begging for more. Flume’s highly polished and, at times, sophisticated style blurs the lines between dance and indie music. This album will, without a doubt, be a contender for our record of the year in 2016. Other artists with 2016 releases include Eric Prydz, Adventure Club and Zeds Dead. Not even half way through the first month of January and we are already pleased with what we see on the horizon.
Excited for an album coming this year? Tell us and we’ll make sure to add it tour our list. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram, and like us on Facebook. Don’t be afraid to give us a shout, we love to hear from our fans.
