What So Not (Flume and Emoh Instead) have released the final version of the first track they ever made together three years ago: Touched. The song contains elements from a vast and diverse array of dance genres, all of which reveal themselves throughout the song. Though the duo has humorously tagged the song on Soundcloud as “Austrailian House / Trap,” their humor doesn’t seem to stray too far from the truth. This brand of House/Trap isn’t unusual from either of these Aussies, so why not claim it?
After a terrific Major Lazer remix and the release of their Quack EP, it seems both artists are choosing Touched to be their conjoined victory lap. The song’s bubbly base, the meditative thematic opening, uptempo bongo drums, hard-as-hell hooks, vocals that when repeated form an amazing groove; with all of that, anyone can see that this song is a calling card for celebration.
With the tail end of a busy year – as far as output is concerned – from both Flume and Emoh Instead, it’s impressive that both of them show no sign of slowing down. With a new Flume Mixtape on the way and Emoh Instead still feeling (and looking <3 ) phresh with his solo EP, competition better be on the look out or get out of the way. This is another sign that these guys are positioned to take over. The future of dance music could be nothing but sweet jamz from these two and that sounds alright by us.
