You won’t expect the sudden, intense desire to slouch onto a low-rise couch straight out of the 70s and dig your boots into the shag carpet. You’ll want to enjoy a sip of your cocktail, chilling in a rocks glass, and look at the people all around you, grooving.
Wait, did you say this is DJ Frodo playing this funky, jazzy house?

Elijah Wood, who on occasion goes by DJ Frodo, and Zach Cowie, long-time music industry insider, bring enough to the table to encourage you to check them out when the stop through Seattle at Q Nightclub on Tuesday, January 20.
We know it’s not the first time you’ve heard of an actor getting in to DJing. You probably know that Kristian Nairns, who plays Hodor on the popular series Game of Thrones, is also swinging through Seattle. Pauly D, Paris Hilton (ok, one can hardly call her an actress), and even Michelle Rodriguez have DJ careers.
It’s OK to have doubts about an actor trying his or her hand at music, but there’s absolutely no reason to feel that way. Especially when it comes to Wooden Wisdom, because Wood and Cowie hit it out of the park with chill 70s and 80s disco-house.
It’s no wonder that these guys know what they’re doing: Cowie has been DJ-ing since 2001 and has toured with Animal Collective and Fleet Foxes. Wood has been experimenting with electronic music since he was a teenager and began to take it more seriously five years ago. The duo spins exclusively on vinyl records, which some would argue has a particularly authentic feel to it.
So if you can get over the fact that Elijah Wood is moonlighting rather than making his music a full-time career (we think you can), and you like grooving (hey, you might), we encourage you to check out Wooden Wisdom on this live recording from a show in LA, and consider whether you will head out on a Tuesday for some disco funk. Let us know your thoughts on what you hear and whether you’ll be heading to the show.
