We may still be battling the cold air and rain in the PNW, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking forward to festival season. Today, the organizers of Electric Forest are releasing the initial lineup for their 2016 festival. Unlike the usual social media blast with all the names located in one place, the organizers have trusted the task to it’s ticket holders. Selected members have been sent mail with portions of the lineup to share with the world! The feed is live via the events lineup page, and pulls updates to the feed as people post to their social media accounts.
Several noteworthy artists have already been announced with much more still to come. Worth mentioning are the likes of Bassnectar, STS9, Major Lazer, Griz, Alunageorge, Bonobo, and even the return a B2B set with Caspa and Rusko. Even though we’ve still got 5 months to go until gates open, we can’t already feel a sense of excitement for this one.
For those who may not know, or possibly live under a rock. Since 2008, Electric Forest has been gaining momentum as one of the country’s “Must Attend” festivals. Rather than packing 100,000 to the infield of a race track or polo field. It draws a considerably smaller crowd, and focuses on the people, bringing together an amazing gathering of dance music fans. Deep inside Michigan’s Manistee National Forest, 35,000 friends and rump shakers alike get down for a memorable weekend of dance music. If you don’t believe us, just check out this video recap from last year.
As we said at the end of 2015, this year is looking to be an even bigger one for dance music. As the scene grows, we’re seeing some of the best names one festival lineups, as well as the reemergence of some old favorites. The scene surely is showing it’s colors and we’re more than excited about today’s announcement. More festival lineups will be releasing over the next few months, so be sure to stay tuned to DMNW for all the updates on your favorite events.
