Europe has been a pioneer in the electronic dance music scene since the beginning, influencing the evolution of the genre as it continues to amass popularity all over the world. Germany, in particular, has long been a powerhouse for new and exciting genres and sub genres. It is no surprise that the country will now host a new electronic dance museum.
Opening in early 2018, Europe’s first electronic dance music museum will grace the masses for the first time in Frankfurt, Germany. Considered the most international city in Germany, Frankfurt is renown for merging the modern financial world with international culture. In fact, almost 1/3 of Frankfurt residents are not German nationals.
MOMEM, the Museum of Modern Electronic Museum, will be established in the very heart of Frankfurt. MOMEM is not just a museum but also promises to be a space for events, film premiers, seminars, concerts, and more. At more than 1,000 square meters, MOMEM aims to honor the history of electronic dance music while also influencing the future of the genre.[bpm_ad]
The museum itself will include a geography map detailing major festivals and labels in their respective regions. The museum will also showcase electronic music styles, historical influences, graphic design, and more. A major highlight of the museum will be the instrument room, where a wide variety of drum machines and synthesizers will be on display, allowing visitors to tap into their inner genius.
