Mindfulness is a mental state that allows people to acknowledge their own feelings, thoughts, and sensations. It relates to maintaining a positive mental state. Have you been nice to yourself today?
The 2020 Electric Daisy Carnival theme is KineticZEN. EDC Founder Pasquale Rotella went into great detail on Instagram, “In our hyperconnected world, it’s easy to get distracted from making time to care for our minds, our bodies, and things that feed the soul.” It’s true, in 2019 we felt like we were always running around, and never took time to slow down.

Rotella continues describing that there are multiple ways to achieve balance and focus. He provides multiple examples. However you find your zen, everyone at EDC has the same goal, to be present and live in the moment. To celebrate life.
Mindfulness has been a big topic in the last 12 months. Last Spring Above & Beyond released Flowstate, a full length yoga and mindfulness album. Flowstate was produced primarily by ⅓ of Above & Beyond, Paavo Siljamäki. In 2018 Siljamäki had a mental health episode and attempted to leave Above & Beyond.
Traveling musicians are starting to gain health benefits when they take time off and regroup. DJ’s are starting to take vacations. In light of these observations it makes sense for Pasquale Rotella to focus on KineticZEN and mindfulness.
