BBC Radio 1’s “Annie Mac” show, named after host DJ Annie Mac, premiered Grammy Nominee and London-based Producer Duke Dumont’s I Got U last Friday, December 6th. The track features vocals by Jax Jones who was recently signed to Dumont’s own record label, Blasé Boys Club. Listen to the interview at 58:36 to hear about Dumont’s plans for a debut album at the end of February.
Whitney Houston’s choice lyrics, “Clap your hands y’all it’s all right” are used by Jones in the pair’s new interpretation of My Love Is Your Love (Houston circa 2006). I Got U strays even further from Dumont’s original underground house release, The Giver, and sticks to the poppy rhythm of his recent, faster success Need U (100%). This collaboration between two Londoners blends piano, steel drums and soulful lyrics for a steamy, soon-to-be Big Room hit.
