[divider]Renegade – Terrorist (1994)[/divider]
Like all proper jungle anthems, Renegade’s “Terrorist” builds on a series of layers as it takes shape to form one of the most memorable junglistic jams from 1994.
[divider]Conquering Lion – Code Red (1998)[/divider]
Conquering Lion, aka Congo Natty, aka Rebel MC is almost as synonymous to jungle as jungles are to ruining your day. And while this classic was born more towards the end of the jungle era, it has gained such a massive following over the years it’s almost impossible to be a part of the dance community and have never heard this song.
[divider]Nasty Habits – Here come the drumz (1992)[/divider]
Dark, haunting melodies are on display in this classic track by Nasty Habits circa 1992. If you want a perfect example of how drum & bass was inspired by the jungle of the early 90’s, there’s no better demonstration than what you hear before you.
Taking a step in the other direction, this lighthearted track features some prime examples of the “rolling” drums that are very familiar in the world of jungle. While you can easily pinpoint where the darker sounds of drum & bass got their roots, “Renegade Snares” makes a stand that leans more towards the sounds that helped inspire liquid D&B.

Once again eerie synths dominate the opening bars of this track, before making way for an onslaught of drums and seductive sub bass. It’s almost as if there’s some sort of pattern to these songs, like they have the potential to inspire a new generation of heads.
