Every time the DJ Mag Top 100 list rolls around, the electronic dance music community is set ablaze with debate and controversy. Glorified popularity contest? Perhaps. With often times interesting and rather questionable results, DJ Mag Top 100 at the very least gives us a semi-accurate summary of the current state of dance music. Finally, the voters have spoken and the 2014 Top DJ list is revealed.
For the second year in a row, Hardwell reigns the top spot as the No. 1 DJ in the world. While DJ Mag veterans Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Armin Van Buuren hold down the second and third spot respectively, there is no shortage of fresh meat on the list with more than twenty new entries for 2014. First-timers DVBBS is welcomed onto the list at No.20, behind fellow Top 100 newcomer Deorro. Some notable list jumpers are the Dutch duo Blasterjaxx, climbing an impressive 58 spots to No. 13 and 18-year old wunderkind Martin Garrix, escalating from No. 40 in 2013 to the top five. On the other hand, Ferry Corsten and Bingo Players decline more than 40 spots to the bottom of the list.
