Argument #3: If kandi is the only reason you’re there, you’re there for the wrong reasons anyway. Just deal with it and stop whining.
EDM and raving have always been a more active part of the live music scene. Events almost always include a variety of activities for participants to partake in when they need a break from the constant dancing and loud music. Rides are not uncommon at bigger music festivals or shows, and Electric Daisy Carnival even hosted a Bud Light lounge for their attendees with a kandi creation station inside of it. So it’s not surprising that Pasquale Rotella had something to say in response to Diplo.
It relates to the argument that kandi kids aren’t there for the music, but it’s just as important to mention: As Insomniac states, “It’s all about the experience.” And for some people, that experience is extremely meaningful. Many of us are so invested in going to these shows because of the experience as a whole, which includes the music but does not exclude kandi or anything else. That’s the wonderful thing about electronic dance music, it’s all inclusive! Yet, we’ve decided to exclude some of the most passionate people in our scene.
