If Diplo and Zeds Dead have one thing in common, it’s their hunger for original, fresh sound. Diplo is known for his interest in lesser-known genres and uses his radio show on BBC1Xtra to showcase his findings on the new talent front. Diplo is a forager in a musical forest, looking for natural good sound growing on its own. Recently we covered Kygo’s guest mix on Diplo & Friends, which generated significant buzz about the 22-year-old Norweigan producer.
Diplo has hit the jackpot with Zeds Dead in the form of their most recent guest mix for the show, which takes the form of a fresh recipe of tracks that they’re loving for 2014. There are some of the usual heavy hitters, but also a distinctly groovy feel from a duo that was, until quite recently, bass-heavy and has only in the past few months shifted towards more house. Just a month ago, the pair dropped their new collaboration with Twin Shadow called Lost You. We are always impressed by Zeds Dead’s ability to morph their sound to keep it interesting.
