It can be tough to take a classic track and rework it, trying to improve while also maintaining the feel of the original. The world of music genres are ever evolving as time moves forward. You can listen to a song from only few years ago, and it might not sound anything like the popular music today. In some cases though, it’s worth going back in time and resurrecting a good track. MarQ, a local Seattle producer and DJ, originally released the trance track Denigrate in December of 2011, and the updated release of Denigrate is one of those cases.
While MarQ has been hard at work with his new material and partnership with singer Hailey Gorman, he’s also teamed up with DJ/producer Chris Herrera from Televisionary Records on this updated release. The rework brings it up to date while showcasing the expansion of MarQ’s DJ and production skills over the years. The progressive rework delivers what Beatport calls “a Progressive cut with dark and ominous overtone.” From start to finish it takes you on a trip down the rabbit hole, to the darker side of trance. For those who enjoy the faster psytrance sound a bit more, Chris Herrera has you covered. Not quite full-on psytrance, but rather a psy/progressive combo, it still delivers on the familiar psytrance sound.
The track is out now exclusively on Beatport, with a planned global release on August 3 this year. You can check out both mixes below; so take a listen, and let us know what you think!
