Deadmau5 was recently in the area for the Dota 2 Finals held in Seattle’s own Key Arena. In the few days preceding his appearance, he penned some enigmatic tweets hinting at the Pacific Northwest area, (“Mt. Rainier looks bored.”) and making some references to a character named “Pit Lord,” who will supposedly be a hero in the game. After making an impromptu visit to one of our best dance music clubs, Foundation, to watch Rain Man perform, Joel Zimmerman dropped his own set to close out the Dota tournament.
However, if mau5 had emerged during a music festival or even a night at Foundation, his reception may have been a little warmer. Dota fans were not giving Zimmerman the adoration he is used to when he plays to a crowd of ravers, and some were taking to social media to vent their frustrations at the DJ and game company Valve. Never one to take things lying down, mau5 ended his set abruptly and literally ran off the stage. Following his exit, he (unsurprisingly) retaliated on Twitter.
Dance music’s resident troll strikes again.
